Indeed Harry Kane is a Tottenham Hotspur hero. He has been a part of the team for about two decades and now he has every right to demand for a transfer.
Between the years 2004 and 2010, Harry Kane worked his way through the Tottenham youth academy.
Initially playing as a holding midfielder, the kid from Walthamstow, London was not always a great playmaker like he is now.
He attended Watford’s academy, Arsenal’s academy, and was with Ridgeway Rovers for a period of lengthy stints as well.
However, in the year 2009, Kane won a scholarship contract at 16 and started playing as a striker for Tottenham’s U-18 team. Even though he made great progress, Harry Kane was undersized and was still not eager for the senior team.
He went on four different loan stints making 18 appearances in League One with Leyton Orient, spent a year with Millwall in the Championship, a slow year with Norwich City, and lastly, a few months with Leicester City in the Championship again.
It happened that on 7th April 2014, Harry Kane was given his first Premier League offer at his boyhood club. Since then he has been rewriting the history books in terms of individual success, but unfortunately, the club has not followed Kane’s model.
After 7 years in the first team and nearly two decades with the club, it looks like Harry Kane is set to move on to something better, to win some trophies, and further his legacy.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a Hotspurs fan or not, you have to accept that it is sad that Kane has never won a meaningful trophy during his many years of commitment to the club.
After 240 Premier League displays and 165 goals, Kane and Tottenham have not won the league, a domestic cup, or a continental cup. Quite simply, Harry Kane is too good of a player to not have won up till now.
With the way he plays and the role he has with the club, it is a true shame that he has not been rewarded for his sacrifice and his loyalty has never wavered despite the club’s continued disappointments.
The good news for Harry Kane is that the clubs that want to sign him are all steady winners around Europe.
Thus far, rumors state that Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona have been in contact with Kane’s representatives and though the striker has not yet officially submitted a transfer request, he has on multiple occasions told the Tottenham front office he is set to move on.
It is the conclusion of an era and just another huge blow in the Tottenham Hotspur club outlook, but no one can blame Kane for calling it quits after the season the team has had.
It looks like they will not be enlisted for European competition in the fall and the disappointing loss to Man City in another cup final is still hanging over the heads of each and every fan and player.
A new club and a fresh beginning could raise Harry Kane’s quality even further as he steps into his “prime” and he could finally earn some of the coveted trophies he has always so desired.
